The National Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) is a veritable Institutional Mechanism for commercialization of Research and Development (R & D) results.  It is an integrated support programme designed to assist budding entrepreneurs in the development of new technology-based firms both start-up and fledglings. It seeks to effectively link talent, technology, capital and know-how to leverage entrepreneurial talent in order to accelerate development of new companies and speedy commercialization of R & D and innovation.  It also helps in value reorientation by creating an environment for changing the attitude towards personal initiative, creativity innovation, risk-taking and entrepreneurship.


POLICY TRUST
The policy thrust of the Technology Incubation Programme is to pursue the commercialization of technologies and technical innovations using Technology Incubation as a tool in order to enhance the attainment of technological, industrial, social and economic competitiveness of the country and improve the quality of life of its citizens.

VISSION

The vision of the programme is to pursue the commercialization of technologies and technical innovations using Technology Incubation as a tool in order to enhance the attainment of Technological, Industrial, social and economic competitiveness of the country and improve the quality of life of its citizens.

MISSION

To develop the necessary infrastructure for nurturing technology start-ups; to promote Nigeria’s indigenous potentials through value-added and technology-related activities; and to create enabling environment for effective linkage amongst technology providers, entrepreneurs and capital.


MANDATE

  • To provide institutional infrastructure and mechanism for the development and commercialization of R & D outputs and inventions.
  • To effectively involve all relevant stakeholders in the establishment of technology incubation centres across the country.
  • To source and develop commercially viable indigenous and foreign technologies.
  • To source funds for the implementation of the program.
  • To source entrepreneurs and investors for the commercialization of chosen technologies.
  • To ensure competitiveness of the products of the programme through value-added service support and effective linkages to knowledge providers to ensure continuous injection of innovation in materials processing and/or equipment.
  • To ensure efficient and effective performance leading to accelerated growth of entrepreneurs in the programme.
  • To subsidize all services provided by the technology incubation programme in order to reduce the overhead burdens of start-up enterprises.
  • To ensure compliance with policy and regulations of the programme.
  • To provide post-incubation survival scheme for the enterprises graduated from the programme.
  • To promote the growth of private sector through the creation of competitive SMEs as the engine of growth of wealth creation, employment generation and poverty reduction.
  • To encourage value re-orientation to promote hard work, transparency and accountability in business operations.
